Recruitment of Overseas Personnel

Whether you sell products or set up a local subsidiary, you will need the help of overseas human resources. Business results are greatly affected by the work conditions of the overseas human resources that are hired. If possible, I would like to hire excellent personnel with know-how. However, it is not easy to find human resources that meet our needs overseas. In order to find and hire good human resources, it is important to understand the local recruitment system and create an information network.

Recruitment of Overseas Personnel

It is quite difficult to hire good human resources unless you are familiar with the local information. It is risky to suddenly start local recruitment without information. First of all, if the head office hires people who have worked in Japan for many years, or international students who have studied in Japan for several years, it will be easier to gather information. Also, if such a person is at the head office, it will be easier to develop a training plan for locally hired human resources. If you understand the local human resources situation, know-how to attract good human resources locally, reliable recruitment agencies, etc., failures will decrease.

Recruitment of Foreigners at the Head Office

One way to do this is to employ local personnel at the head office. If you search for people who have worked in Japan for many years, international students who studied at a Japanese university, etc., you may be able to find suitable human resources in Japan. Since the head office employs them, they can start working before establishing a local subsidiary. If local personnel gather, it will be easier to obtain local information. If they are excellent after working at the head office for several years, it may be a good idea to have them work as a local manager.

Collecting Information on Local Human Resources

Research basic information such as the local education level, literacy rate, ethnicity, academic achievement gap, and regional gap. It would be nice to be able to understand the cost of hiring, retention rate, loyalty, and know-how to hire good people. It may be good to know examples of troubles that Japanese companies have encountered when entering the country, and the reputation of local Japanese companies.

Recruitment Activity

Recruitment activities can be started by putting out recruitment advertisements locally, using local recruitment agencies, or getting introduced by local people who were hired in Japan. When hiring, decide in advance whether you will only have a document screening and interview, or whether you will have a written test and a practical test. Make sure to set the selection criteria and requirements.

Education and Training Plan for Local Human Resources

We cannot expect local human resources to work immediately without any education or training. In particular, it is desirable to systematically educate and train employees for a while after they are hired. Depending on the content of training, whether or not that person will contribute to the company in the future will be greatly different. Make a solid plan for education and training, and review the content as appropriate.
