December 2022 4th issue: The psychology of seeking a savior

There are people who seek a savior. Some people think that a savior will come and solve whatever problem is in front of them. Why do people seek a Messiah? How is the psychology of seeking a savior triggered? What do we have to be careful about when we begin to sincerely ask that our savior come to us? Let's consider the savior-seeking psychology, its causes, and its dangers.

December 2022 4th issue: The psychology of seeking a savior

The psychology of seeking a savior is the flip side of painful reality and anxiety about the future.
It's very painful and difficult right now. How long will this painful situation continue? This is not going to work. I am getting poorer and poorer. You may get stuck at some point. ・・・
When people spend their days in such an uneasy state, they gradually want to escape from reality. Then you develop a desire that one day a savior will come and fix everything.
In some cases, we may develop a belief that a savior is coming and refuse to accept reality. It's just an escape from reality.
There are many factors that contribute to the psychology of seeking a savior. One is the unwillingness to admit one's mistakes. Also, there is a psychology that does not want to change what has been done so far. In addition, there is also a psychology that wants to blame others for the problems in front of you. I've said it differently, but you might say they're all for "ego protection." To protect our ego, we reject reality and turn to our savior.
The psychology of seeking a savior is dangerous. For one, it is easy to refuse to admit your mistakes and become unable to accept reality. In addition, there is a risk that a complete stranger who suddenly appears and does not know his true nature will be convinced that "this person is surely the savior", and trust everything and end up in a terrible situation. Furthermore, if a savior does not appear, dissatisfaction with society will explode and become violent, or it will become easy to become pessimistic and suicidal.
If you find yourself searching for a savior, take a moment to calm down and reflect. Am I doing something wrong? Are you heading down a path you shouldn't be heading? Or maybe you're not taking the action you should be taking right now.
Changing the world is not easy. But you can change your thoughts and actions. Before you become pessimistic or desperate, reflect on your thoughts and actions and recognize your mistakes. Then start changing your behavior.
When you meet people seeking a savior, observe them closely. Instead of denying their remarks and actions out of the blue, let's think about the factors by observing them carefully. Then, if you find improvements that need to be fixed, it would be nice to offer advice. Forcing them to make improvements may be counterproductive. Even if you offer helpful advice, do so in a way that makes them want to improve on their own.
"Someday the savior will come and solve everything. I hope that day will come." But until that day comes, do nothing. If you continue to self-reflect and make efforts every day, even if the savior doesn't come soon, a better future should come.
