Home --- Topics --- February 2023 9th issue: Decide goals and to-dos, and move forward steadily
Set goals. Decide what you need to do to reach your goal. Once you have decided on your goals and what you need to do, let's move forward steadily. From time to time, review your results and revise your goals and actions. It is the accumulation of daily efforts that determines whether or not you will succeed in business. By continuing to move forward steadily, you can make a difference to your rivals.
Goals are what make a business successful. Success in business means winning over rivals and continuing to be chosen by customers. Managers will think about what they should do to continue to be chosen by customers, and set management goals.
To-dos are the tasks that we need to do in order to reach our goals. Thinking from the customer's point of view, we will fill in what we lack compared to our rivals. At the same time, we will continue to develop our strengths and prevent our rivals from catching up.
Determining goals and what to do can be said to be the most important job of a manager. If your goals are vague and you don't know what to do, your employees won't know where to go. With clear goals and work to do, employees can move forward without hesitation.
Steadily moving forward means setting daily tasks and schedules and steadily doing what needs to be done. People are creatures that are easy to skip. If there is no follow-up, you tend to slacken off and gradually stop moving forward. Even if you set goals and decide what to do, you may not be able to achieve your goals if progress management is insufficient. Managers must manage the progress of their employees to ensure that they move forward.
It is also important to review the results of the current situation and review the goals and what should be done. Maybe the goals we set and what we should do were wrong. Also, goals that seemed right at first may become meaningless as the times change. As consumer and competitor behaviors change, our goals may need to change as well.
Even though we have clear goals and what we need to do, there are times when the mood within the company does not move forward. Even then, you may need to reassess your goals. When we are not feeling positive, there is often something we have overlooked or made a mistake.
Unless you are exceptionally talented or extremely lucky, success is rarely achieved without hard work. Let's decide firmly on the goal and what to do, thinking that the person who is steadily moving forward will be the final winner.
