Home --- Topics --- October 2024 Part 2: Mastering a particular skill
Master one skill. Create a strength that you have over your rivals. It's understandable that you want to try your hand at a variety of things and do a wide range of business, but there's a risk that you'll end up doing everything half-heartedly. Instead, create a strength that you can't beat in anybody. By mastering one skill, you can beat the competition in a niche market.
It is said that a niche strategy is effective for small and medium-sized enterprises. They focus their limited resources on a small market and aim to win there. Even small and medium-sized enterprises that would be driven out by large companies in a large market have a better chance of winning in a small niche market. Concentrating and winning in places where they can win is an important survival strategy for small and medium-sized enterprises.
If you adopt a niche strategy, instead of trying your hand at a wide variety of things, focus on one skill. Master one skill and make it the best you can be at. Work hard to improve yourself and improve your level.
If you think, "I can do this better than anyone else," you will gain confidence. By gaining an advantage in a small market, you can achieve stable sales and profits. You will also be able to build up the strength to take on larger markets in the future.
Instead of jumping straight into a big market, try to break through in a small market first. To do this, try to hone one thing and master one skill.
