Get into the habit of being skeptical of data. If you just trust the data you receive from someone, you are not fit to be a manager.
Make sure to check who created and edited the data materials. Data materials are always influenced by the subjectivity and intentions of the creator or editor. What action do the creator or editor of the material want you to take? Don't get caught up in their intentions.
You should also check the reliability of the data itself. Was the data measured accurately? It may have been falsified or fabricated, or it may contain data that was measured incorrectly. If measurements were taken under biased conditions, the data will also be biased. If the data itself is not accurate, your judgments will be incorrect.
Creating graphs is useful for understanding trends in data. However, you should also be careful of graphs created by someone else. There may be malicious people who intentionally create distorted graphs to mislead managers into making the wrong decisions.
