March 2025: Who on earth is a dictator?

What is a dictation? Who exactly is a dictator? A dictator is someone who monopolizes power in a nation or organization and exercises authority arbitrarily. However, the word "dictator" is often used simply as an insult for someone who is in a different position than you or someone you don't like. Even if someone is criticized as a "dictator," technically they may not be a dictator. To avoid misunderstandings, let's find out exactly who a dictator is.

March 2025: Who on earth is a dictator?

In a state, dictatorship means that an individual or a certain group exclusively controls the three powers of the state: legislative power, judicial power, and executive power. The dictator or dictatorial group has full control over these three powers. In a dictatorial state, organizations that oppose the dictatorial group or people who criticize the dictator are sometimes eliminated, arrested, or put in ideological camps. The people are ruled by fear and are deprived of any choice other than to obey the dictator. In a dictatorial state, the dictator is praised and the people are brainwashed to believe every word of the dictator.
In organizations such as companies, a dictator is someone who makes decisions for the organization based solely on their own personal opinions. Small and medium-sized businesses often have a one-man management style, meaning that the president makes dictatorial management decisions. Dictators often make decisions based solely on their own judgment, and try to eliminate any counterarguments or opinions of others. However, sometimes they will actively hire people they like. If they become close to a person they like and trust them, they may end up leaving everything to that person's opinion. In other words, a person who is favored by a dictator can gain power before they know it and take over a country or organization.
In dictatorships or organizations where dictators wield power, coups and takeovers are often perpetrated by the dictator's close associates or favored subordinates.
There are three points to look for when determining whether the highest authority in a country or organization is a dictator.
The first point is whether the person in the highest position listens widely to the opinions of others and modifies his or her own opinions. If the person in the highest position does not listen to the opinions of others and tries to push through only his or her own opinions, that person may be a dictator.
The second point is whether there is an atmosphere within a country or organization where people can freely express their opinions. In particular, whether people can freely express opinions that contradict the highest authority is an important point in determining whether a country or organization is a dictatorship.
The third point is whether there is a strong atmosphere of fear or worship of the supreme authority within a nation or organization. Dictators often use fear to control people and make them worship them. If people have a strong tendency to fear or worship the supreme authority, then there is a high possibility that the supreme authority is a dictator.
Pay close attention to the three points above and take a look at the person at the top of an organization, and then try to determine whether he or she is in fact a dictator.
