October 2025: Focus on the Now
Focus on the present. It is important for managers to always remain focused on the present. If managers only think about the past and rely too much on past experience, they are more likely to make the wrong decisions and take the wrong actions when faced with a management crisis.
When driving a car, the driver needs to hold the steering wheel and keep an eye on the situation in front of them. They may occasionally look in the mirrors to check the sides and rear of the car, or check the instrument panel to see their speed and to see if any warning lights are on. But basically, drivers focus on the road conditions in front of them. This is to avoid accidents and to ensure they arrive at their destination without a trouble.
Similarly, managers must also focus on the current business situation. They should occasionally check the trends of other companies and customer feedback to see if anything unusual is happening on the work site. It is also important to reflect on their past actions, improve them, and use them in the future. And basically, managers focus on the "now." They focus on the "now" to avoid business failure and to ensure that they achieve their goals.
It is dangerous for managers to rely solely on past experience. Past experience may no longer be valid in the current market. If managers try to force past common sense, they may cause major problems.
Managers should focus on the present. They should fully understand the current situation, make appropriate decisions, and act accordingly. To create a better future, they should stop being trapped in the past.
