We are investigating and introducing castles in Akita prefecture. The castles were built as fortresses of the Warring States era and as strategic bases. We will post popular castles in Akita Prefecture.
Address: Terauchi, Akita-shi, Akita
Features: Ancient castle fence in Japan that existed in Dewanokuni Akita, (currently Akita city of Akita prefecture). It is designated as a national historic site, and a part of former castle area is now Takashimizu park.
Address: Shiroyama Town, Yokote, Akita Prefecture
Features: Yokote castle site is currently being developed as Yokote Park, and it is a place of relaxation for visitors from outside the city every day.
Address: Inaniwacho Furudatemaehira 50, Yuzawa, Akita
Features: Mr. Onodera who was ruling over the prefecture's south for about 400 years since the early Kamakura period. Built at the castle ruins is Inaniwa castle and it is also a symbol of the area.
Address: 1-1 Senshu Park in Akita City, Akita Prefecture
Features: Currently, Kubota Castle Ruins has been developed as Senshu Park, it is popular as a place for citizen's relaxation and as a sight for cherry blossoms.

Features: Wakimoto Castle Ruins is said to be a large castle where Mr. Ando 's family Ando Chikasue has lived after making a massive restoration in the Azuchi - Momoyama era (1577).

Features: It is said that it is a natural fortress utilizing two rivers of Omasugawa and Komasugawa as ditches.
Address: Tohinzawa 62-2, Minamiakitagun Gojomemachi, Akita
Features: In the introduction corner of the town that is set up on the first floor, you can view the historical material DVD "Gojome Castle Morning Market Monogatari" from time to time on a monitor, and at the wood product introduction section on the third floor, set up a "Child Corner" that you can play with toys etc. (We may close due to the appearance of a bear.)
