Castles in Fukui

We are investigating and introducing castles in Fukui prefecture. The castles were built as fortresses of the Warring States era and as strategic bases. We will post popular castles in Fukui Prefecture.

Kitanosyou Castle and Shibata Park

Kitanosyou Castle was Japan's largest castle with 9 castle towers, but it was attacked by the Hideyoshi army in just eight years of construction, and it became "a visionary castle."

Echizen Ono Castle

Ohno Castle is Hirayama Castle built in Kameyama at an altitude of 249 m in the Ono Basin located in the northwestern part of Ono city.

Fukui Castle Ruins

Fukui Castle, the second son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first generation Fukui lord, Hideyasuke Yuuki built in Keicho 11 (1606), and is a famous castle for the Echizen Matsudaira family's prosperity for about 270 years.

Maruoka Castle

Maruoka Castle is Hirayama castle with the oldest architectural style in the existing castle tower, as the alias of Kasumiga castle floats in the cherry blossoms in spring full bloom is a fantastically beautiful castle.

Ichijo-dani Asakura Ruins Archive Museum

Ichijo-dani Asakura Ruins Archive Museum holds permanent exhibitions of Mr. Asakura of Echizen and Mr. Asakura of Ichijo-dani relics and exhibitions that incorporate the latest research and analysis results every year.

Obama castle ruins

You can see the forest of old trees surrounded by high stone walls by approaching the small river from Obama fishing port, which is crowded with tourist boats and fishing boats. It is now the prefectural site of the Obama shrine that worships the Obama clan, Sakai Tadakatsu, and is the Obama castle ruins with the Tenan Memorial Kyuhon Damo. After the Sekigahara battle, Kyogoku Takatsugu became Wakasa's landlord in the Keicho 6th year (1601), let the fishermen living on this beach move to Shimotakehara (Nishitsu Go) and set up a castle, Kyogoku Tadataka moved out to Matsue in 11th year of Kanei (1634), Sakai Takakatsu became Ohama castle owner, began establishing a castle tower, completed in October Kanei 13th (1636).

Kanegasaki Castle Ruins

There is a small mountain where you can see Tsuruga Bay in the northeastern part of Tsuruga city. Many historical incidents have been brought about in the world of Sengoku, the Kanegasaki Castle and the Tezutsuyama Castle in this area. Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu ... there are no figures in the history on the historical persons related to Kanegasaki Castle.
