Seppuku is widely known all over the world with the word Harakiri. Seppuku is a very heavy ceremony that samurai will take responsibility by breaking their bellies and cutting off their lives.
Seppuku, which is a terrible act just to imagine breaking his own belly, were done frequently in the Edo era. In the middle to the end of the Edo era, it seems that samurai were order to do Seppuku easily. Not only the general people and even the samurai doubted and thought they were too bad.
There are several reasons why Seppuku has been frequently applied during the Edo period. One is to inform the samurai's dreadfulness and severity of discipline both inside and outside. With the Seppuku, the townspeople trembled and the samurai would have reaffirmed the importance of keeping discipline.
It is said that the Seppuku has been increased to prevent samurai from losing their diligence because of no war to demonstrate their abilities, or to emanate their dissatisfaction. Some say that the progress of political corruption is a cause factor.
It is frightening and sad to say that the samurai who have practiced severe mental and physical exercises are forced to do Seppuku for a trivial reason from our viewpoint. The samurai who lost their lives in the Edo era by the Seppuku may be victims of the era of peace.

To Live
Bushido is not only to die but also to live. Life is all important and precious. Therefore it is not good to waste any life. Bushido spirit thoroughly hates useless, meaningless death.
Physical and Spiritual Training
There are the Word "rash courage" that contrast well with Bushido. Rash courage is a person's heart that does not think and just violently rampage and assault. The person may look bold, but actually he/she is just not thinking.
Children Grow up Looking at the Back of Parents
Children grow up looking at the back of their parents. To educate and nurture children, parents themselves should first show their example. If parents are training physically and spiritually, and continuing temperance, children will also learn what parents do with nature.
Respect the God and Buddha
Samurai respects the God and Buddha. In fact, many people die on the battlefield. If you are a soldier, you may kill people or you may be killed in a war. Human life is a fleeting one. So samurai needs to cherish the life.

Various events occur in life. There are times when it is going up, but there are times when it falls like rolling down the slope. Sometimes we lose sight of the way to go and forced a Ronin's life without knowing what to do.
