Perhaps the 20th century was the century when the family collapsed. As industrialization and urbanization rapidly proceeded, nuclear families advanced, and number of living alone grew sharply. The shared life by the former large family became frowned.
A person can not live alone. Yet many people have to live alone without having a family to love. Modern people who seems to be rich in material and surrounded by household electric appliances and has a free-living life, but are actually unhappy.
Even if you do not have a TV or car, even if you have a hard life, it is more favorable and warm as a human being that your family stay close with you supporting together.
But when people gather, there will be conflict and discord. It is the same with family. It is sad to get hurt for a long time due to brothers and parents' opposition. It is deplorable that family members who should love together do not care each other. It may be family love that is missing from us living in modern society.
Confucius seems to have rarely told about love. However, we can see Confucius' way of thinking about family love in the chapters of the Analects. Not only the love of parent and child brothers but also the kindness of Confucius who care about their disciples can be said to be the guidelines of family love.

Tao in Analects
The word "Tao" of Confucius is often seen in Analects. "If I hear Tao in the morning, I am happy to die in the evening" is the famous short sentence. What did Confucius mean by saying "Tao" here? Maybe "Tao" for Confucius meant the ideal state of the nation.
