The present castle tower was rebuilt in 1961 due to the wish of the townspeople and the good will of the whole country.

Designed by Rangaku-sha Takeda Hisaburo who received the order of the Tokugawa shogunate, the first Japanese Western castle completed in 1864 is Goryokaku.

It was a puppet maker store named Puppet Studio Tokugawa Castle, but apparently it seems that the manufacturer is bankrupt and not operating.
