1918 After the collapse of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, joined the establishment of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
1929 Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia renamed to Kingdom of Yugoslavia
1941 Invasion of Nazi Germany. Puppet government installed by the Nazis
1945 Croatia becomes a constituent republic of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia

Politics

It is a democratic federal republic with a presidential system. The President of the Republic is the head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The government is run by a Prime Minister who is appointed with the consent of Parliament. The legislative branch is a unicameral parliament.
