Departure from Europeanism and Return to Japaneseization Theory --- Departure from Europeanism --- Rationalism

Rationalism

Rationalism is the principle that reason and logic rule everything and that everything can be explained by them. It is also called reasoning because it tries to reach the truth only by reason based on logical and chemical ideas. It is said that rationalism is very efficient because it thoroughly eliminates waste, and that it is exclusive because it does not accept other opinions that are not logical from the viewpoint of rationalism.

Rationalism

Rationalism also seeks to deny intuitive intelligence and sensory experience. Anything that does not conform to reason and logic becomes an object to be denied by rationalism. Anything that cannot be explained by reason or logic is rejected.
In rationalism, the world is like a gigantic machine, and all phenomena can be derived by mathematical analysis, like analyzing the operating principle of a machine. If the mechanism is clarified, everything can be explained by reason and logic.
However, the world is complicated. It is not uncommon for phenomena to occur that do not conform to reason and logic. Even if we try to explain everything with reason and logic alone, it is not easy to keep up with the trends of the world.
Rationalism is said to have contributed to the remarkable progress of modern technology and the development of industry. However, on the other hand, it is said that many problems in the world have been rejected and ignored without being able to solve them.
Many of the problems we face in modern society are complex and cannot be solved by reason and logic alone. In order to solve them, it is necessary to always look at the big picture, respect intuition and sensory experience, and work without being exclusive.
